29. FALL FORMAL

The next day, before class, Maja decided to talk to Arthur.

Maja: Hey, do you have a moment?

Arthur: Sure, what’s up?

Maja: I thought we’d make a pretty good pair at the Fall Dance, what do you think?

Arthur: A dance? With you? Of course!

Maja went into the exam with a light heart. She felt certain everything would go well. Arthur seemed to be in a good mood too. Plus, after the test, Maja got a notification that someone bought her outfit—definitely time to celebrate. But first, a little studying before the final exam.

This exam also seemed easy. However, there’s a fundamental difference between seeming and being. Maja passed, but it wasn’t a result to brag about. Well, she wasn’t the only one unhappy with their result, but at least she accepted it with dignity, unlike that spiteful Mateusz.

Maja: Dad… I have to admit, I didn’t do so well on the tests…

Filip: Well, it happens. And to cheer you up, waffles will be ready soon!

Maja: Waffles? Oh wow, Dad, I just noticed the new kitchen decor! And not just the kitchen—wow, are those items from the new stuff pack?

Everyone sat down to enjoy delicious sweet waffles (the only correct way to eat waffles—who eats savory ones?!).

Filip: Delish... You have to admit I'm a master of the waffle maker.

Maja: Dad, you absolutely nailed it! Even Bea is enjoying them, and she barely eats anything.

Anna: And into the dishwasher, wonderful.

Filip: So, how did I do with the kitchen renovation?

Anna: Do you want a medal?

Filip: A kiss will be enough.

Here come the Spooky Day! 

While Maja prepares for the Fall Dance, Filip is handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters. It brings back a flashback to when Maja was just a little baby.

Time to start the party! Principal Uchida and Mr. Miyamoto are checking at the entrance to make sure no one is bringing in banned substances. A few people are already there. Maja spotted Arthur too.

But first, they need to vote for the winners of the prom. Slowly, more and more people are gathering.

Maja: I told you our outfits would be a hit! And we hardly used any CC. We might even win!

Arthur: So, shall we take some commemorative photos?

Maja: Show me how I looked. Ugh... What are those faces?! Seriously, EA?

But there's no reason to get down about the photos, and soon Maja and Arthur took over the dance floor.

Enue: You two are totally killing it! Both of you! On the dance floor, and that costume is first-rate too.

Maja: And vice versa! Where did you get that dress?

Enue: I told you, you can find awesome vintage stuff at thrift shops!

Principal Uchida: Attention, attention! After counting all the votes...

Arthur: I think you should win; you look stunning.

Principal Uchida: And so, despite a fierce competition, I announce that the Queen of the Fall Formal is Imani Kealoha, while the title of Jester goes to Arthur Zest! My congratulations!

Keliya: And how do you feel about the fact that you rolled me over for Zest? He became the crowd favorite, and look at you, sitting here with me.

Maja: Keliya, you said everything was fine between us. Are you jealous of him or what?

Keliya: Me jealous of Zest? Please. Besides, you'll find out for yourself.

Photo session! The Watcher was too tired to set all students to the photo, so this must be enough.

Maja: So what's your story, Zest?

Arthur: I don’t have one.

Maja: You’re kidding? Your mom’s a five-star celebrity, and your dad is mysteriously connected to the Landgraabs...

Arthur: And what’s your story, Drozd, huh? Your grandma was the founder of the legacy, your granddad was a vampire hunter, your dad saved Sulani...

Maja: Okay, you got me!

Maja: And here’s my grandma at the Starlight Accolades. And this is Bea, my younger sister.

Arthur: Look at that, it's not just inherited fame that connects us. I have a younger sister too; her name is Karola.

Maja: Here, you look almost like a normal older brother, not like a kid of famous Sims.

Arthur: When mom and dad decided to send me to a distant school in Sulani, I was angry. But I'm not anymore. I’m glad I met you.

Maja: I’m glad too.

Arthur: Could I...

Maja returned home early in the morning, but despite her tiredness, she didn't go to bed right away. She had to jot down all her chaotic thoughts about what had happened. Is she in love with Arthur Zest? And what did Kaliya really mean? She’s probably just jealous. But why did her parents send Arthur so far away to school? Maja needs to find out all of this.
