16. IT'S COMPLICATED (1)
Sofia didn’t feel proud of what she did, but she also couldn’t stop thinking about that passionate night. She tried to focus on work, but that didn’t help at all. Other Sims’ relationship problems didn’t distract her, they just reminded her of what happened.
Sofia: We need to talk.
Atlas: Last time you said that, a lot happened afterward. Should I expect the same today? Because honestly, I wouldn’t mind.
Sofia: This isn’t funny, Atlas. I don’t know what to do. We need to talk about what happened. What does it mean? What now? I’ve never been in a situation like this. Aren’t you at all worried? About what we did?
Atlas: Why would I be worried? That was the best WooHoo of my life and with the most beautiful Sim I know. Maybe it was fate. Maybe everything that’s happened led to our souls finally connecting last night?
Sofia: But… what about Bastian?
Atlas: When he comes back, we’ll talk to him. We’ll explain. You can’t ignore destiny, and every sign in the sky is telling me we’re meant to be together. If we don’t give it a shot, we might regret it forever.
Atlas: We restrict ourselves so much in life. But love shouldn’t be restricted. Life would be so much happier, so much more amazing, if jealousy didn’t exist and we all embraced free love. I tried to promote that N.A.P., but nobody ever wants to listen. I don’t know why.
Later, lying in Atlas’s bed, Sofia realized how very, very weak she was. She was drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Could she even trust him? But… did she even care? She’d never felt this good with anyone before. She couldn’t deny herself the pleasure. And, to be frank, she didn’t want to.
Atlas: I got word from the Space Center. They're sending me into orbit tomorrow. But don’t worry. It’s a short mission. I’ll be back before Bas returns.
Meanwhile, Bas continued working at the Space Center in Oasis Springs. His supervisors were extremely happy with his performance and teamwork. It looked like another promotion was waiting for him when he got back. That made him happy, of course, but it didn’t take away his worries.
Since that last argument with Sofia, they didn't speak. She wasn’t picking up his calls. She must have been really angry. He had to fix this. As soon as he gets home, he’ll make it up to her. He’d do anything to make it right, whatever it took.
The loneliness was hitting him hard. Sure, Rob was a great help on the job, but it just wasn’t the same. He missed Sofia. Being out here really made him realize how much she meant to him. He worked hard to finish the repairs ahead of schedule, hoping he could come home early.
Bas: Hello? Rom? Wait, I can’t hear you, the signal’s bad.
Rom: I said, I think Cristian is about to propose! I found a ring!
Bas: OMW! That’s a big step! So, are you gonna say yes?
Rom: Of course! Man, you have no idea how happy I am.
Bas: Congrats. I’m really happy for you, Rom. Seriously.
Wow. And to think he was the one who set them up. So, a wedding’s coming up. The first from their old Treehouse Gang of six. Who would’ve thought?
The thought made Bas miss Sofia even more.
(And he lost the "Single and Loving It" lifestyle.)
When he went for a run to clear his mind, he saw he’d gotten an email from Augustin Laurent, his cousin. Augustin was inviting him to his wedding. So they got engaged after all. Another wedding... So this time it was Laura from their group... Suddenly, Bas felt really off. He had to sit down. Maybe he’d skip this one ceremony. And the run was definitely over for today.
Valentina: Your numbers are great. Clients are really impressed with your commitment. Umm… everything okay, Sofia?
Sofia: Yeah, yeah. I think lunch didn’t sit well. Are you sure that was a vegetarian burger?
Valentina: Pretty sure. You don’t look so great. Maybe you should go home?
Sofia really wasn’t feeling well. In fact, she was feeling worse by the minute. Lack of balance and... Something was definitely off...
Oh no.
Please let it just be the burger… Because if not…
Well. Time to find out.
And what now...?
Ciudad Enamorada General Hospital
Doctor: First, I’ll draw some blood, just to check. Then we’ll do an ultrasound.
...
Doctor: Aha, there she is! Congratulations. Looks like a healthy, strong baby girl.
Sofia: So… I really am pregnant?
Doctor: The tests will confirm it, but the fetus is already big enough that… well, there’s not much doubt.
Sofia: But how? I’ve been so careful lately…
Doctor: Oh, my dear, you’ve been pregnant for a while now, at least since early spring. You really didn’t notice anything?
