38. FULL HOUSE
In the morning, labor began. Everything was already prepared. They were just waiting for the midwife.
Because the Watcher didn’t really know how home births work, the whole thing took longer than originally planned. Still, everything went well and little Cyprian was born into the world.
It completely exhausted Laura, who really needed to sleep. Meanwhile, Bas took care of their son. Rob broke down somewhere along the way. And once again, everyone forgot about Nettie, who, as usual, didn’t cry at all, just lay quietly in her crib, contemplating her sad fate as the now–middle child.
Luckily, Ollie had just come back from school, so she picked up the little one, although she wasn’t exactly thrilled about it.
Olimpia: Come on, Nettie… or should I start calling you Nessy-Messy, you little diaper rascal?
That day, Nettie stood up on her own for the first time. This time Bastian was with her and managed to capture that big moment.
Soon, little Cyprian stopped being a newborn. He rolled the traits Sensitive, Snuggly Sleeper, and Frequently Sneezes, and from his mother he inherited the Precision Prodigy trait. I have a feeling Laura and Bastian’s peaceful life has just come to an end xD
Nettie learned not only how to stand up, but also how to cry to finally get some attention.
Laura: Look, you’re a big sister now. This is your little brother, Cyp. Will you say something to him?
Nettie: Piggy.
Laura: Interesting.
Laura: And can you play peek-a-boo? Oh, someone’s getting impatient.
Cyp, unlike Nettie, is probably going to cry a lot. He fell asleep in his mom’s arms because he doesn’t like the crib. Meanwhile, Nettie needed another diaper change, which Olimpia had to take care of. Unfortunately, disaster struck…
Olimpia: AAAA!!! I can’t believe it!!!! I’m covered in pee!!!
Laura: Shhh, don’t shout like that, it happens. Look, you woke Cyp.
Olimpia: I DON'T CARE! Because of that stupid brat I stink of urine, ugh!!! I just got ready, and now I have to shower and change all over again!
Laura: I think you’ve gone a bit too far.
Olimpia: I’ve gone too far?? You’re turning me into some damn nanny! You don’t care about my life at all! Ollie this, Ollie that. I was just about to meet my friends, but once again I had to help YOU!
Laura: Ollie, what’s gotten into you?! You know I wouldn’t ask for help if I didn’t have to. Your dad is still at work, and Cyp can’t sleep in the crib.
Olimpia: Then you shouldn’t have made a second brat if you can’t take care of them.
Laura: How can you even talk like that?!
Olimpia: I’ll talk however I want, you’re not my mother! And you know what?! Today I’m sleeping over at Elena’s, and then I’m going back to the ranch. I’m done being your free domestic help!!!
After Ollie left, Laura had to somehow regain control of the chaos. Nettie fell asleep on the floor, so she first took care of Cyp, who needed a diaper change, had developed a rash, and peed on her as well. Luckily, Bas came home soon and took care of Nettie. But neither kid wanted to stay in the crib.
Laura: If you’d heard what she was saying! She completely lost control. She scared the kids.
Bas: She’s a teenager, it’s hard for her to control her emotions. I’ll talk to her.
Laura: You’re way too lenient with her. Teenager or not, she should control herself.
Elena: Que mierda, Ollie, I’d be seriously pissed too. Just listening to you got me all fired up.
Olimpia: They don’t care about me anymore. I’m only useful for changing diapers. Now they have their own kids, their own life. Dad has completely forgotten about me.
Elena: I know how that feels. Dad barely visits us. He has so many kids he probably doesn’t even remember our names.
Olimpia: How do you deal with it?
Elena: I don’t care. If he doesn’t want to know us and prefers his career, that’s his loss.
Olimpia: I don’t know if I can do that.
Olimpia: I always liked spending time at Dad’s, but now I feel like there’s no place for me there. Maybe I should move in with Mom permanently? Ugh, my head hurts from thinking.
Elena: Sleep on it. Mom always says you think better in the morning.
Olimpia: Thanks. Thanks for being there for me.
She didn’t notice when she fell asleep, exhausted, still angry and bitter. Everyone was against her. Never crying Nettie, whom Dad adored. Now Cyp, who demanded twice as much attention. Laura, who pretended to be her friend. And Dad. Dad, who didn’t care about her anymore because he had new family.
In the morning, Olimpia was woken up by voices from the kitchen.
Elena: Por favor, Carlos. Es un plan perfecto.
Diego: Mom won’t agree otherwise, you’re our only hope.
Carlos: I don’t know… and I’d be your babysitter?
Diego: Just for today, it’s Spooky Day! Think about it: an epic Spooky fiesta at the Lopez house!
Elena: Vamos, Carlos, what do you have to lose?
Olimpia: What’s going on?
Carlos: El and Di want to throw a party, and apparently I’m supposed to be the supervisor.
Elena: Just so Mom agrees, you won’t actually be taking care of us.
Olimpia: I think I should head back.
Olimpia: It’s Nettie’s birthday today, and then I’m going to the ranch. That was the plan.
Elena: ¡A la mierda! Screw the plan! Do you really want to go to that brat’s birthday after how they treated you? Stay with us today. We’ll have a great time. You can go to the ranch tomorrow. So, everyone agrees?
Carlos: ¡Vale! Just don’t wreck the house. And you handle everything, Maria and I will just be here pro forma.
Maria: And no alcohol!
Elena: Claro! FIESTA!!!
Bas: She texted, she won’t be at the birthday. She’s staying at Elena’s today too, and tomorrow Sofia will take her to the ranch. She didn’t want to talk to me. I don’t get it, everything seemed to be going so well. I thought you’d become friends and that she liked Nettie. It was just one incident.
Laura: I don’t know, Bas. You work a lot, and I admit I don’t always manage with the kids. Cyp is much more demanding than Nettie was. Lately I asked Ollie for help few times, but I didn’t think it bothered her this much.
Bas: You couldn’t tell me you needed help? I could’ve stayed home more often. Or we could hire a nanny.
Laura: And you couldn’t figure it out yourself? You know what Cyp is like, that he only sleeps when being held. Rob breaks down all the time and then can’t help. Sometimes only Ollie was available.
Bas: Okay, I messed up. I admit it. But Laura, you have to tell me when something’s wrong. I’m not all-knowing. We need to talk about these things. Promise me you’ll talk to me.
Laura: You’re right. Let’s not argue anymore, not on Nettie’s birthday.
When the closest family gathered (only Ollie was missing), Nettie could have finally spit on the cake, I mean blow out the candles of course.
She rolled the Clingy trait, which I think suits her perfectly. So now one child is Clingy, and the other is a Sensitive Sim with a huge need for closeness. I hope they won’t want to have more kids.
Nettie: Ollie?
Bas: Ollie is not here today, sweetheart, but we are.
Olimpia: Thanks for borrowing me the outfit.
Elena: Of course, it’s our first house party, we need to make a good impression. Especially since a few more people are coming.
Olimpia: More people? Do you know them all?
Elena: Not yet, but I will.
Elena: And now listen. Stop worrying and just have fun. ¡Disfrútalo! I definitely will.
As a child of the village, Olimpia blossoms when she takes part in local events, so she doesn’t need to be told twice to enjoy herself. Besides, everyone was in a great mood.
Especially Elena, who was flirting with someone!
Olimpia didn’t know what to think about it. It felt a bit strange to see her friend in that kind of situation. She herself hasn’t thought yet about boys or girls, at all. Not in that way. And for now, she has no intention of doing so.
