19. HAPPY NEW YEAR

Winter holidays greeted the Drozds with snow.

Filip: Finally! Mom, Dad! The first snow!!



Akito: What do you all want to do before the year ends?

Klara: Maybe we could go somewhere and celebrate New Year's Eve away from home?

Akito: Will there even be any spots left?

Klara: Let’s check... I found Alpine Village, but it’s way too expensive. Oh, there’s also a free spot at Forest Hideaway! So, Filip, do you want to go?

Filip: Yes! Mom, Dad, please, let’s go!



And off they went. They brought along Zoe and Nicolas because it’s always more fun in a group.



Filip: I thought there’d be snow here too... What’s the point of winter break without snow?

Akito: You can’t predict the weather in another world. Cheer up; maybe it’ll snow soon.

Nicolas: I think I see some clouds gathering—this could turn into proper snowy weather.



Klara: Let’s warm up by the fire!

Akito: Could we tone it down a bit? You know I’ve had a fear of fire ever since that blaze broke out at our house.

Klara: Oh dear, I completely forgot. I thought you’d overcome it by now.

Akito: It seems that’s pretty hard to do when there haven’t been any fires to face...



Suddenly, Klara’s coat caught fire! Luckily, they quickly got the situation under control.

Akito: See? Good thing nothing bad happened!

Filip: I’m not afraid of anything!

Nicolas: That’s because most fears don’t develop until you’re a teenager. Just wait—you’ll soon be overwhelmed by worries about unfulfilled dreams.



Zoe: I still can’t believe I have a partner, and we’re spending New Year’s Eve together!

Klara: I told you everything would work out.

Zoe: I feel like a playable Sim! This is just amazing. It’s all thanks to you; I can’t thank you enough.



With few attractions at the forest cabin, the family found ways to pass the time.

Filip: I can’t believe you keep winning! Come on, Dad... I’m just a kid! Let me win for once!

Akito: Maybe once, but don’t count on it happening again, haha!



Klara: Oh, look! It’s starting to snow. My dears, it’s snowing! Nicolas was right.

Filip: Mom! Don’t interrupt! This is an important match!



Eventually, though, everyone headed outside to enjoy the snowy weather.



Filip: Come on, Piotr, let’s build a snowman. A bit of packing here... and a bit more snow over there.

Akito: Great job, boys; they look fantastic!



Akito managed to pelt Klara with snow! Forgiveness might not come quickly...



In the evening, dancing and singing began—interrupted by stronger beverages. ;)

Nicolas: You know, it’s wonderful spending time with you all. There will be plenty of memories to cherish, and I’m sure many more great moments ahead. No doubt about it.



Time for the countdown to midnight. Everyone was there (except for Piotr, who had already gone to bed).

Everyone: 10... 9... 8... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1!!! Happy New Year!!!

Filip: Ew, Mom, Dad, get a room...



Klara: Dears, I’ve got some leftover fireworks from a festival back in my college days. Let’s go light them up.

Zoe: Beautiful...

Akito: The perfect end to a perfect day and year. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m exhausted.

Klara: I think we’re all ready for bed, aren’t we, Filip? Let’s go.
