32. MYSTERIOUS TASK
For his good grades, parents took Bas to the GeekCon. He didn't manage to pass the Ultimate Gaming Test, but he had a great time, bought a T-shirt from the festival and got a photo with a cosplayer dressed as his favorite character from the movie The Adventures of Spaceship Simulation.
The whole family played a tournament on the console, what a thrill! Later, Bastian listened to a transmission from the launch of a space rocket, and Maja and Jace had some fun... flying into space, of course! 😎 Such things happen only at the GeekCon!
At school Bas joined the Science Club. As it turned out, Laura had already been a member for some time, as well as Arno.
Laura: Will we try our potions?
Bas: Can we? What if something happens?
Laura: Come on, what could happen? At worst, you'll get a negative moodlet.
Bas: Ok! Let's do it!
Laura: I told you, just a moodlet. And mine is boring.
Bas: I got a disgusting one.
Laura: Yuck!
Bas: What one wouldn't do for science!
Bas: Do you know what you're going to show at the Science Fair?
Laura: Not yet. And you?
Bas: No. But I'd like it to be something extra. So special that it's almost out of this world.
Unfortunately, the next day, a very sad thing happened, which overshadowed family's other plans. Marshmallow passed away. Everyone was overcome by grief.
Bas: Why did you take our doggy, mister?
Grim Reaper: You can see me, boy?!
Grim Reaper: Hmm... since you can see me, I guess you could help me. If you do, then um... I could do something for you too! I've heard rumors recently about a special meal called Ambrosia. I need more information about it. Are you in?
Bas: Me? But I'm just a little boy! I don't know if I can handle it.
Grim Reaper: I think you can. And we could both benefit from it. You see, boy, they say Ambrosia can bring the dead to life. Who wouldn't want to have that kind of knowledge and power? You just have to complete few tasks...
Jace: Are you sad about Marshmallow, son?
Bas: Yeah. That's unfair, she wasn't that old yet.
Jace: Dogs don't live as long as Sims. And Marshmallow lived a very long time.
Bas: Yeah... Dad, do you know anything about Ambrosia?
Jace: You want to make Ambrosia, son? For Marshmallow? That'll take a lot of work. Maybe mom knows more.
Maja: Ambrosia? I don't know how to make it, but I'd love to use it myself.
Bas: And do you know how I could order starter packet of flowers? I don't have that interaction on the computer.
Maja: Maybe through gifts? But honey, is everything okay? I know you're really sad about Marshmallow, but...
Bas: Everything's okay, mom. Don't worry.
Mom was right. Gift option worked. Bas also researched Ambrosia for more info. Not much, but already something. Then he planted lily and snapdragon.
Unfortunately, at school Mr. Fly didn't know much more about Ambrosia either. Ambrosia Newsletter is what's left. Maybe there will be more.
Jace: So how was school, champ?
Bas: Dad, not now, I'm busy. [To himself] Cooking and gardening skills need to be developed...?
Unfortunately, Bas discovered that as a child he couldn't develop either skill yet. It's a good thing he could at least buy a Grimophone. Oh well, dad has to help.
Jace: It's nice of you to cook dinner with the old man, although it's kind of unexpected.
Bas: You know, Dad, it's nice to spend time together. Dad, do you know anything about gardening too?
Jace: No, not at all. But Grandpa does, and he and Grandma are coming over tomorrow for the weekend.
Jace: Bas, is there something you want to talk about? Are you in trouble?
Bas: No, Dad. Everything's fine.
Jace: Are you sure? You know you can tell us anything.
Bas: It's just a school project, nothing big.
Next day grandparents arrived.
Anna: We heard about Marshmallow, how do you feel?
Maja: It's not easy to accept she's not here anymore. She's been with me since I was little. But that's life. However Bas seems to be taking it very hard. We're quite worried about him. It's good that you've come.
Filip: Hello, champ. I heard you have a task for me?
Of course, Grandpa helped researching a plant.
Filip: Let me know if I can help you with any other projects. Or anything else.
That evening in the treehouse...
Bas: All is ready.
Laura: Wow! Are we really going to summon spirits?
Bas: We'll just ask them something.
Rom: Sure. I can already see how they're responding.
Laura: Are you chickening out, Rom? At least let the others have some fun.
Bas: Okay, let's get started.
Rom: So? Can you hear something besides your own moans?
Laura: Hush! If you make noise, we won't hear anything.
Paul: Hey, can you see that light too?
Laura: Spirits are here...
Bas: Let me concentrate! "Plant a snapdragon, an apple tree, and a cherry tree." Got it!
Laura: You see? It worked!
There's one more thing left. Summoning the Grim Reaper and giving him the information.
Bas: Are we doing this, Hunter? Just don't leave me now, doggy.
...
Grim Reaper: You've done well, boy. But this is just the beginning of our journey toward knowledge.
