33. WHO AM I? (1)

Drama at the Drozd household from early morning. The girls are having a rough time with each other...

Maja: What did you put in my bathwater?!

Bea: What, you didn’t like it?

Maja: You little brat! Now I’m itching all over!

Filip: Maja, I’m sure it’s not that bad. Get ready already, the loading screen to Tartosa takes a while.

Maja: Seriously, Dad? You’re defending her?! Look, I definitely got the Itchy Plumbob and now I’m going to DIE! But none of you even CARE! You’re ruining my life!

Filip: I don’t have the energy for this…

The Drozd family received an invitation to a Froodage Lang Syne party at the Markovics’, so after dealing with the morning chaos, they headed off to Tartosa.

Filip: Ah, good memories!

Lucia: I was starting to think you wouldn’t make it!

Anna: So did we! But I’ll tell you later...

Tomi: Maja?

Maja: Oh wow, Tomi, is that you? You’ve grown so much!

Tomi: And vice versa!

Maja: I probably wouldn’t have recognized you, and yet I have you on Social Bunny.

Tomi: That’s an old picture.

Maja thinks Tomi is pretty attractive, but she made a pact with Izi—no boys until the end of high school!

Lucia: But we admit, you really got the Laurents!

Filip: You heard about that?

Lucia: The whole of Tartosa was talking about it!

Mateo: They had it coming.

Filip: That’s true.

Tomi: …and this is my room. Sorry, I didn’t clean up…

Maja: No way, you listen to Sims Biscuit and play drums?!

Tomi: You know Sims Biscuit?

Maja: Of course! Behind Green Plumbob is my favorite song!

Soon, the Froodage Lang Syne party kicked off. As it turned out, Maja’s school friend, Aurora, and her brother, Marco Leonardo, had family in the area and came to Tartosa to celebrate as well. Filip also ran into an old friend.

Filip: Jan? What are you doing here?

Jan: My sister married a local, I’m visiting her.

Everyone gathered to watch the countdown to midnight, but their plans were interrupted by an unfortunate accident! Thankfully, no one got hurt, as Anna and Mateo quickly took control of the situation. Now, more than half the guests have developed a fear of fire. Only Lucia seemed completely oblivious—turns out, drinks can work wonders.

Since everyone was already outside, Filip decided to set off some fireworks. The display was beautiful! Though some guests ended up a little… singed. What else could happen tonight?

A second attempt at the countdown to midnight—and this time, success! Happy New Year!

Tomi: Happy New Year, Maja! Froodage Lang Syne! I’m really glad you all came!

Mateo: Attention, everyone! I have an announcement! Since so much has already happened tonight, and nothing worse could possibly go wrong, and since all our closest friends are here, this seems like the perfect moment for Lucia and me to finally make it official!

And so they did! Just in time too, because suddenly a massive storm rolled in.

The next day Tomi took Maja on a bike ride.

Maja: I told you that next time I’d beat you on a bike!

At one point, there was a weird animation glitch, and Maja and Tomi crashed into each other. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Tomi: This is the place I wanted to show you.

Maja: It’s beautiful! I think I recognize it from my parents’ photos.

Maja: Do you know what you want to do after school?

Tomi: I was thinking about music, maybe a music degree or something.

Maja: I still have no idea what I want to do.

Tomi: Well, what do you like doing?

Maja: I mean… I like dressing up and selling outfits on Trendi…

Tomi: Come on, I’ll show you something.

Tomi: Whenever I don’t know what to do, I look at the stars. And somehow, it always helps. One way or another. Maybe it will help you too.

And in that moment, Maja suddenly felt like she could do anything. She still didn’t know what she wanted to become, but she made a firm decision—she would figure it out soon.

Maja came back down to earth with one very strong realization: she had just completely fallen for Tomi Markovic. Exactly the thing she was supposed to AVOID, according to the pact with Izi! She had to get out of this romantic moment—fast!

Maja: That was… really inspiring. But oh wow, look at the time! We should head back.

Going home is the natural course of things. And while some will miss each other more than others, maybe it’s for the best that Maja won’t see Tomi for a while. Yes, first, she has to figure out who she is—and another boy won’t help with that.
