22. CHANGES

The next day, when everyone woke up, Filip himself carried Olimpia and handed her straight to Sofia.

Filip: Special delivery!

Sofia: She really likes you.

Filip: Told you we’d do just fine. Such a sweet little angel, we had no trouble at all, right, Olimpia?

Maja: You know, Grandpa came back to life. I didn't see him like this in ages. I worried, because he never really recovered after Grandma’s funeral. I could tell his heart was broken, and nothing seemed to help. Only a talk with his beloved could have fixed that... but we both know that was impossible.

Maja: But today he’s been completely different. Cheerful, made breakfast on his own, then went to check on Ollie. I’m telling you, Ollie healed him. She saved him.

Bastian decided to help Ollie practice standing and crawling. She’s almost there, but still needs a little more time before she can stand on her own.

Sofia unwinds after the wedding events by meditating in the garden.

Atlas doesn’t give up easily. This time, he invited Sofia to the Talent Showcase...

Ollie got a little sad because mommy didn’t notice her, being too focused on her phone.

Bas: What’s wrong, little one?

Rob: I’ll cheer her up. Come on, let’s dance!

Olimpia looks like she’s up to something again.

Olimpia: Flog.

Rob: A frog? Is that your first word? But Ollie, that’s not a frog, that’s a dog!

Olimpia: Flog!

Rob: Dog.

Olimpia: FLOOOG!

Sofia: Oh, come here. Fine, let’s say it’s a frog.

Rob: Too many frog books if you ask me.

And later that same day, Olimpia learned to stand up all by herself! Everyone was so proud. :)

Now Ollie’s ready for her birthday tomorrow. :]

When everyone else went to bed, Bas and Sofia finally had a quiet moment to talk.

Sofia: Bas, I’ve been thinking a lot today… things between us aren’t the same anymore. Since Ollie was born, we’ve grown apart. I think you feel it too.

Bas: You’re right. I thought that once Ollie got a bit older, things would go back to normal. But we don’t spend as much time together as we used to… and honestly, it doesn’t seem like you even want to.

Sofia: I know I haven’t made things easy lately. I’ve been moody, and I admit I can’t always control it, but I’m trying. I really am. Meditation helps. I just can’t let myself forget about it.

Sofia: But you’re not helping either. When I saw you dancing with Laura yesterday, it really hurt. You haven’t looked at me like that in a long time. I know you and Laura used to be close and you’re still friends, but it’s hard for me to accept it.

Bas: Hey, hold on. There’s nothing going on between me and Laura. We danced, sure, but just as friends. You can’t think I’d ever cheat on you.

Sofia: I know, Bas. I just… can’t stop thinking about it. It’s stronger than me, I guess.

Bas: I don’t get what you expect from me. Don’t ask me to stop talking to Laura, because I won’t.

Sofia: No, I’m not asking that. But we do have problems, and I don’t think we can fix them on our own. I was thinking… maybe we could go to couples therapy.

Sofia: I love you, and I want to fight for us, for our family. Things aren’t great right now, but I believe with a little help, we can find our way back. What do you say? Do you want to fight for us too?

Bas: You know I do. I love you too. If therapy can help, then let’s give it a try.

For now, Sofia overcame her Fear of Being Cheated On, though as a Jealous Sim, probably not for long.

Meanwhile, Bas developed a new Fear of Being Alone.

Their relationship is in a fascinating place: strained, they drive each other crazy… but they’re crazy about each other.

To wrap up their stay in San Sequoia, the next day brought Spooky Day, and Olimpia’s birthday.

Sofia: Well, sweetheart, you’re about to grow up. I can’t believe this is probably the last time I’m holding you like this, my little bean. Do you like your cake and candles? Think you can blow them out all by yourself? Look, everyone’s cheering for you!

But the Watcher reset something and it caused to reset all the Sims, and the candle-blowing had to start over. :P

Happy Birthday, Olimpia!

Bas: Ready for your first step?

Olimpia aged up with the Inquisitive trait, just like Bastian did at her age! Quite the change from when she was cautious and shy around new places. For me Inquisitive is not only about learning.

She also earned the Top-Notch Infant bonus trait.
