23. SUMMER IN THE CITY

Filip finally got over his midlife crisis and went back to his usual eco-expert duties. However, after all these new experiences and passions, he might not be the same Sim he was before. Meanwhile, Maja is facing her last day of school before summer break.

Classes are dragging on forever today.

Everyone has had enough. Even Ms. Paewai.

To wrap up the school year, Maja performed a puppet show for everyone.

Enue: That was amazing! I had no idea you were so talented! Do you have any plans for summer?

Maja: Actually, yes! First, I’m visiting my cousin in San Myshuno, and then I’m going on a trip with my parents.

Enue: Wow, awesome! Take lots of pictures and tell us all about it later!

Sulani Elementary School, Class of August 2023.

Maja: Where’s Bea? Peek-a-boo! Love you, Bea.

Dear diary, today was the last day of school. And tomorrow, I teleport to San Myshuno for a Simtastic summer with Izi!

Little Bea takes after her mom overall, but she has her dad’s hair. And Marshmallow is getting better at posing for Simstagram.

Filip: Maja, for Kids Day—but also for your great grades—here you go. Mom and I know you’ve really wanted your own bike.

Maja: A bike?! Really?! But… in this box?

Filip: Haha, no, that’s just the animation. The bike is right here.

Maja: It’s amazing! Thank you so much!

Maja immediately took her brand-new bike for a ride across almost the entire island.

The teleport to San Myshuno went smoothly with no loading screen lag, and Maja is now at her aunt and uncle’s place.

Piotr: Welcome, my favorite niece!

Maja: Mom and Dad send their regards.

Piotr: Izi, take care of your cousin—show her around today.

Yuki: We have a full schedule planned for your summer.

Maja: Simtastic!

The girls went for a bike ride.

That evening, Maja told such a scary story that she even freaked herself out—now both girls are afraid of the dark.

Maja isn’t sure anymore if those weird calls from mysterious Vlad were just her imagination… or if they really happened.

Before bed, there was one last thing to do—a friendship bracelet exchange.

But the fear of the dark isn’t going away.

In the middle of the night, Izi woke up screaming after discovering a monster under her bed.

Izi: Dad, make sure to spray everywhere so it doesn’t come back!

The next day, the girls explored the Caleido Art Center.

Maja: Do you think, since this is an art center, we could paint the floor?

Izi: I don’t know… let’s try!

Eventually, though, they made it to art class and created beautiful summer decorations.

Art Instructor: Very nice! Unlike those doodles someone made downstairs… vandals.

Maja/Izi: (Oops!)

Shopping at street markets, searching for posters and collectibles, and dining out is a whole new experience for Maja compared to her usual island life.

Even the rain feels different than it does in Sulani.

That evening, the family watched the Starlight Accolades ceremony.

Host: And the Starlight Accolade Award for Best Satire goes to… Piotr Drozd! For making us cry from laughter with his latest comedy special! Congratulations!

Everyone: Yaaay!

Izi: Congrats, Dad! I knew you’d win one day!

Yuki: We have to celebrate this win.

Piotr: I have an idea…

The next day was also packed with fun.

But Izi wasn’t enjoying herself.

Maja: What’s wrong?

Izi: I’m terrible at this! And I have the Rocket trait—I should be great at it.

Maja: You just have a low motor skill level. Practice a bit, and you’ll catch up fast.

Izi: Look, I can hang upside down like you now!

Maja: Awesome! We can play basketball too—that’ll help.

The rest of the day’s activities went drama-free.

And two souvenir photos from the city.

GeekCon finally arrived and a Hekaton contest!

Of course, Yuki swept all the awards, but everyone had a blast anyway.

Maja even discovered that one of the costumed performers was actually Rachid El Majbouri, a 4-star celebrity, and she managed to get his autograph!

One last round of festival shopping, and the GeekCon is almost over.

Maja: We have to get rid of this fear of the dark—these moodlets after sunset are exhausting.

Take this—if we drink a confidence potion now, it should go away.
